OSB Board
Oriented strand board (OSB), also known as flakeboard, sterling board and appetite in British English, is a type of engineered wood similar to particle board, formed by adding adhesives and then compressing layers of wood strands (flakes) in specific orientations. OSB is the upgrading of the traditional particleboard products,
its mechanical properties with directionality, durability, moisture resistance, and dimensional stability than ordinary particleboard.With a small expansion coefficient, no distortion, good stability, uniform material and nail-holding high performance.

Raw material composition of OSB board
The raw materials of OSB board are mainly small-diameter wood and fast-growing thinning wood of soft needle and broad-leaved trees, such as eucalyptus, fir, and poplar thinning wood. They are processed into long shavings (generally 40-100 mm long, 5-20 mm wide, and 0.3-0.7 mm thick) by special equipment, and then processed into a kind of oriented structural board through deoiling, drying, gluing, directional paving, hot pressing and other processes.
Its surface shavings are arranged longitudinally, and the core shavings are arranged transversely. This criss-cross arrangement reorganizes the wood texture structure and completely eliminates the influence of wood internal stress on processing, making it extraordinary easy to process and moisture-proof. Because OSB has a directional structure inside, there are no joints, no gaps, no cracks, good overall uniformity, and extremely high internal bonding strength, so both the center and the edge have super strong nail holding ability that ordinary boards cannot match.
Oriented strand board can be divided into four grades: OSB1, OSB2, OSB3, and OSB4:
- OSB/1 – General purpose boards and boards for interior fitments (including furniture) for use in dry conditions
- OSB/2 – Load-bearing boards for use in dry conditions
- OSB/3 – Load-bearing boards for use in humid conditions
- OSB/4 – Heavy-duty load-bearing boards for use in humid conditions

Detailed steps of OSB production process:
- Raw material preparation: Select small-diameter wood and fast-growing wood with a diameter of 8 to 10 cm as raw materials, and process them into thin flat shavings after peeling and removing impurities through special equipment.
- Drying: Use a single-channel dryer for medium-temperature drying, which is divided into three stages: pre-drying, drying and balancing, and finally control the moisture content of the shavings to about 2%.
- Sorting shavings: Sorting shavings by mechanical methods or adjusting the air flow speed to ensure that the size and density of the shavings meet the requirements.
- Glue mixing and paving: After mixing the surface shavings with glue, arrange them longitudinally in the direction of the fiber, and arrange the core shavings transversely to form a three-layer structure of the board embryo.
- Hot pressing: The board embryo is hot-pressed by a hot press to form it.
- Post-processing: Including edge trimming, cross-cutting, flipping cooling, inspection, packaging, etc.
