Commercial Plywood
Commercial plywood is a board that business people and manufacturers often call a higher grade than ordinary plywood (packaging board). The difference lies in the production process and the choice of raw materials.
Unlike ordinary plywood, it is made of multiple layers of wood veneer glued together, and the grains of adjacent layers are rotated up to 90 degrees from each other. This cross-grain treatment increases stability and reduces the tendency of the wood to crack naturally when nailed on the edge. Commercial plywood usually has a higher-quality glued surface called A-side, Bintangor, Okoume, etc. The glue used for this plywood is usually E0 glue, and the glued surface will be smooth after gluing, which is why many people call this board “frosted board”.We provide 3-30mm thick commercial plywood, and the material can be customized according to customer requirements.
The classification of commercial plywood
material composition of commercial plywood
About the most outstanding feature of commercial plywood is that the input material usually has to use higher quality fillers (in our factory, we usually use grade A), and the glued surface is also high grade. With a higher grade of veneer, the glue can also work better.
- Face/back: okoume, bintangor, pine, poplar, birch, etc. Strict selection of raw materials, clear and beautiful wood grain.
- Core: pine, poplar, birch, eucalyptus, combi, etc. Can be customized according to your requirements.Excellent internal core material. No defects or color difference.
- Grade: A/A, A/B.
- Thickness: 3mm to 30mm
- Tolerance: +/-0.3 to 0.5mm
- Glue: E0, E1, E2 (Depending on customer’s order)
- Dimensions: most common is 4 x 8 ft = 1220x2440mm or less common sizes are: 1250x2550mm, 900x1800mm
- Moisture: Less than 15%
Processing of commercial plywood
Basically, it is similar to ordinary plywood, but it is more detailed in some stages, such as materials and finishing. Here is the production process of commercial plywood:
- Step 1: Select logs, such as poplar and eucalyptus, peel and cut into suitable lengths.
- Step 2: Put the logs into the debarking machine to form wood chips of the required size and thickness (wood chips are also divided into various types such as A, B, C, etc.).
- Step 3: Drying of wood chips: It can be dried naturally or using a dryer. In Linyi, the climate is hot and humid, so many manufacturers often choose outdoor drying methods to save energy.
- Step 4: Gluing of wood chips: Usually manufacturers will use a glue machine to evenly apply glue on both sides of the filling board.
- Step 5: Typesetting: This step is usually manual, and the thickness of the board is usually determined by this step. In turn, it will be a thin veneer, then flipped horizontally to make a solid board, and then flipped vertically, staggered like this until it reaches the thickness we need.
- Step 6: Cold pressing: This step will help to shape the board and glue the wood chips together.
- Step 7: After cold pressing, the sheet will be transferred to the hot press to make the sheet structure strong
- Step 8: Put the plywood into the sander to make the surface smooth.
- Step 9: Apply glue on both sides of the sheet and bond the surface, then put it into the hot press to finish the sheet
- Step 10: The last step is to cut the sheet as needed, choose to remove the defective sheet and pack it to customers.
commercial plywood two-time molding
Two-time molding is to first mold the base plate (already cold pressed/hot pressed once), then sand, polish, putty the base plate, polish it again, and then paste the film paper, and then enter the hot press machine to paste the film; that is, it has gone through the process of hot pressing twice. Two-time molding commercial plywood has the following advantages:
- The product surface is smoother and flatter
- Strong bonding force
- Long life
application of commercial plywood
Commercial plywood is the most widely used plywood for interior decoration (i.e. residential and office). Thin sheets are often used for toys and model making.Commercial plywood is best suited for dry areas such as living rooms, study rooms, offices, etc. This is the most common use for making furniture, wall panels, partitions, etc. However, as far as the field here is concerned, if it will be exposed to water, using waterproof plywood is considered the best choice.
